Education
The Long Bay Symphony is dedicated to providing area young people and adults with quality music education. In keeping with that tradition, the Symphony offers several programs ranging from live orchestral performances geared specifically for students to pre-concert discussions for those attending classical and pops performances. The Long Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra:This exceptional program serves to further the music education, talent development and social experiences of many of the area's talented young musicians, ages 9 through 24. It rewards the hard work, dedication and discipline necessary to perform in a symphony orchestra by providing professional instruction and leadership and performing opportunities for those accepted into the membership. The Youth Orchestra performs several free concerts each year for the general public throughout the region. Youth Orchestra ScheduleThursday - November 18, 2010 Fall Concert All concerts are at 7:30 at the Myrtle Beach High School Music and Arts Center Young Peoples Concerts:Presented by The Long Bay Symphony to thousands of students each year, these concerts enhance the music curriculum already taught in area public schools, introduce students to the symphony orchestra, symphonic music and the concert experience and to various types of music in our society. These programs encourage students to participate in school orchestra or band, as well as The Long Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra. Musicians in the Schools:A major goal of Musicians in the Schools is to influence students to want to explore music further. This program sends small ensembles and individual musicians from the professional Long Bay Symphony into area schools. These performances/demonstrations give students a more intimate look at the individual instruments and musicians and instrumental choirs that comprise the full orchestra. |
